UNIVILLE: PAGE 1

UNIVILLE: PAGE 1

As we stated on the FAQ page, Univille is located in the middle of the Badlands of South Dakota, where just about no one lives. See, here's a map showing where Univille is:

So... basically, the middle of nowhere.

Univille (pronounced [uhn-uh-vil]) is seven miles away from the Warehouse’s location and 90 miles away from the nearest large city, Featherhead. The population of the city plus the surrounding farmland considered part of Univille is roughly 30,000 total. That might seem like a lot all in one area, and that is a decent number of people, but this group is spread out over a large area, so this town feels like the middle of Nowheresville, USA. It does, however, have a fair number of businesses and municipal offices, which we've detailed below. This list is definitive; anything else your character needs will have to be found on the internet.

The images below are to give a general idea of what the various locations around Univille look like. Most are not exact descriptions (some are, though), but there to give players a general idea of what this place looks and feels like.
CITY HALL
SHERIFF'S OFFICE

No municipality in the US is without its government center, and Univille and its surrounding populated farmland is no exception. However, this is mostly where you go to pay your parking tickets. In the rare event someone gets a more severe citation, a traveling judge visits the area occasionally to manage those violations.

The sheriff is the big man in town, but Univille is a sleepy little area that doesn't require much looking after. Mostly the sheriff and his deputies are called upon to judge the county fair exhibits and handle the occasional cow-tipping incident.
DMV
FIRE DEPARTMENT

Do you need a license or registration for your motorized vehicle (car, boat, farm equipment)? This is where you go.

On the off chance there's a fire emergency, the fire department is there to put out the flames. But mostly the lot is used for car wash fundraisers.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MIDDLE SCHOOL

(grades K-5) All the area children attend one of three schools. Because the economy of the area is dependent on the farms, the kids get a week off in the fall for harvest and a week off in the spring for the start of the new season.

HIGH SCHOOL
CITY MAINTENANCE

(grades 9-12) All the area children attend one of three schools. Because the economy of the area is dependent on the farms, the kids get a week off in the fall for harvest and a week off in the spring for the start of the new season. Football is the main sport played in this part of the state.

The maintenance of all the city's utilities is managed through this office. They also dispatch the one city snow plow when necessary.
POST OFFICE
VETERINARY CLINIC

The post office is mostly run by Brenda, the head postal clerk. It's best if you don't get on her bad side because, whoops, someone might lose their mail for a week or two.

Dr. Daniel Walters is the head vet here. He's an affable sort but doesn't take kindly to animal abuse.
DENTIST OFFICE
FAMILY MEDICAL CLINIC

No one likes a dentist, not even when they are necessary to solve that tooth decay. Dr. Darcy Stevenson understands that and tries to make each visit as painless as possible. But still, if you clench your teeth when you see her, she won't hold it against you.

For all your minor medical needs, a doctor is on call 24/7 for absolute emergencies, even if the clinic keeps to normal business hours. Dr. Calder splits her time between the clinic at the B&B and the clinic in town.
HEARING CARE CENTER
CHIROPRACTOR

An unlikely addition to the businesses of Univille, but this is where the hearing care center of this portion of South Dakota is located.

There are enough farm-related back injuries to keep this little office in business.
CITY PARK
CITY CONSERVATORY

Though this is a sleepy small town, they do take pride in making their little park a pleasant place. There are paths to walk with a pretty bit of nature to enjoy, a playground for the kiddos, and sports fields for city tournaments or just general play.

An odd cultural addition to Univille, but it's not a coincidence Univille has a conservatory and is so close to the Warehouse. There are a few deactivated Artifact statues housed in this conservatory, hidden in plain sight, as it were.
UNIVILLE BANK
COME BACK SOON

This bank has two teller stations, total. Usually only one is open, and the bank closes at 3:30pm. Because this is a small town. At least there's an ATM.

Don't stay away too long!
